POSITION SUMMARY:

Develops tools, theories, skills and knowledge to advance the practice of nursing and nurses within Nursing Professional Development. Conducts and coordinates in-service and formal education programs spanning multiple departments to enhance the skills of Patient Care Employees. Conducts competency assessment activities that span multiple departments. Provides leadership in the work setting by serving in a variety of roles to support organizational goals. Ensures the standards of Continuing Nursing Education Accredited Provider Unit.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE: - 5 years of clinical nurse experience in an acute care inpatient hospital unit-

2 years experience with program development, group presentations, and project management- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing procedures, processes, and acute care organizations.

LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: -

-Current Texas RN Nursing License.

- Certification in the area of nursing specialty preferred.

- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

- RN Graduate from an approved/accredited School of Nursing required.

- Bachelors degree in nursing preferred-Masters degree in nursing or related field preferred.

SKILLS:- Technical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to this area in order to effectively communicate with physicians, health team members, patients and families.- Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision, in order to independently carry out the duties of the position.- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.- Additional languages preferred.- Basic computer knowledge.- Strong clinical, teaching, oral communication skills and education skills related to assigned areas.
